Old railroad tie steps have a way of looking okay for a while - until they don't. Rotting wood, shifting pavers, and a staircase that wobbles underfoot is more than an eyesore. It's a safety problem. That's exactly what we were dealing with here.

The original setup had deteriorating railroad tie steps that had completely blown out, with loose pavers shifting in every direction. Nothing was holding its ground. We stripped it all out and started fresh with a proper foundation so the new work would actually last.

What went in is a full paver staircase and landing - dark charcoal treads with a warm mixed-tone field paver landing that ties it all together. The landing sits level and solid. The steps are consistent in rise and run. It's the kind of front entry that actually matches the home and gives you confidence every time you walk up to the door.

The block walls flanking the staircase are built with the same material as the steps, giving the whole entry a cohesive, intentional look. Railings are still on the way, and once those go in, this one's completely buttoned up. Built right from the ground up - that's the only way we do it.
